Numb Feet & Numb Brain, Brrrrrrr

Running down South side of Mt. Peak

Four hours of running in the snow and rain for Rob and I this morning on Mt. Peak. I got soaked to the bone and failed to bring dry clothing. So much for relying on gortex to keep me dry in the rain and snow.

Our first climb and descent to the back side of Mt. Peak took much longer than anticipated due to darkness and very slippery snow conditions. When we got back down to the trail head we checked the time and realized we only had time to go to the top and back to the trail head before Michelle and Jane were going to meet us at 8:00AM. We made it up and back returning to the trail head at about 7:50. Rob changed into some dry clothes and I proceeded to chill and shiver. Michelle, Jane, and Darcy all showed up to make a climb up to the top. Darcy chose to head back down to the trail head after making the summit as the rest of us headed down the back side of the Mt. and then looped around on the roads to the trail head. Rob showed us his incredible ability to run through puddles. He also jumped down into a deep ditch and ran through it for a short distance.

Rob and I got in about 13.5 miles and Michelle and Jane got a good 5.5 miles in. I entertained them with my shivering at Starbucks in Bonney Lake as they told me how good the dry clothes they brought made them feel all warm and toasty.

Rob has been a bad influence on Michelle
Rob running through puddles. No wonder he's in the dumb ass hall of fame!

We both showed our dumb ass abilities in different ways today. It was a good training run for what's in store in two weeks. Thanks for the pics and the video.

I learned to pack dry clothes from your dear delicate flower. You should too. ;-)

I think Grand Tetons sounds like the friendliest of the 100s, but I'm sure you've got input from lots of folks who actually run them.

Thanks for sharing lots of great pics! You guys make this look fun.

Running through puddles is fun. Running through near freezing puddles is, well.....

It's comforting to know that there are crazier people around than I. My wife would probably say I just lack the opportunity to excel - you guys have just too much fun!

Eric come out to the Grand Tetons ....you can see this sorry ass flat lander sea level peep do 100 miles in 8000-10000 feet altitude ummmm u can take a video of me crying for my mommy :-(

but seriously if you want a great challenge 20,000 feet of climb and a well run race that is the one...has four 25 mile clover loops you pass main aid station like 7 times so u get great crew support without the hassle of them driving all over the place ...Live website race updates is a nice plus.

and finally the lodge is 75-100 yards away from the start/finish line so we can walk to it and crawl back to the rooms :-)

You guys would love that race...Think about it, I did 50 miler last year and couldn't go one more friggin mile and now I am going back to do the 100 miler...

chittt now I typed that out the last sentence doesn't sound so appealing to me now!...hmmmm WTF am I thinking?

What good is a video if you don't fall down. Although puddle running is a decent substitute.

That looks like a lot of fun. I wish we got more snow down here!
