Cascade Crest 100 2008 Pacer

Amy Brown on Trail from Hell

Sonja & Michelle Crew

Rob Hester Trail from Hell

I had the pleasure of pacing Rob Hester for 53 miles of the Cascade Crest 100 Endurance Trail Run this weekend. I don't want to steal a single drop of Rob's thunder so you will need to wait for his race report to hear the details.

I included three teaser photos of the race and sent all my photos to Rob so he can select the ones that go well with his report.

The photo of Amy Brown to me captures one of the difficult sections of the "Trail from Hell". Rob and I caught up to Amy on this section. She is from North Carolina and was a finisher.

The photo of Sonja and Michelle was taken at Silver Creek Aid Station, the last station before the finish. Michelle as crew chief and Sonja as assistant they did an incredible job of supporting not only Rob and I but many other unsupported racers.

The last photo is a shot of Rob working his way along the "Trail from Hell".

Here are the race results: Cascade Crest 100 2008 Race Results

Congratulations to all the runners and thank you to all the volunteers at this race.

I couldn't of asked for a better pacer. You allowed me to back off when I needed it and pushed me along to Thorpe Mtn. and up the Cardiac Needles when I was slowing down. Thanks for all your help!

Maybe we should do it again in a few weeks ;)

A 53 mile pace run, you don't hear that everyday, what a traveling companion, nice run.

I've read a few of race reports from CCC over the years, including Olga's from last year, and now I finally know what they were talking about when they mentioned the Trail from Hell!

That trail looks insane - especially in the dark! I can't wait to check in on Rob. That was great of you to pace him!

My HTC team did hit the concert at the beach, but I wasn't that impressed. Some blues band - not really my thing. And, halfway through it was getting windy and cold so those of us that weren't really dancing were freezing our butts off! :) We drove to Manzanita and stayed there afterwards. By the way - loved the "no soup for you" comment. :)

I have a great photo of you and Rob and two other people approaching No Name Ridge AS - looks real bad ass!! When I have time, I'll post them in a blog. Man, I should never commit to so much stuff after staying up most of Saturday night...great job pacing Rob!

I'm three years removed from the race and I don't remember the trail from hell being that technical. Hahaha must be the mind blocking out painful experiences so you can make the mistake of signing up again.

Just read Rob's report. Sounds like you guys had a good time out there, ultra style. Pain and pleasure for many, many miles. Great job on pacing and keeping him going.

It seems appropriate that a Death Racer would pace someone along the Trail from Hell. Rock on.

Eric, just a word of congratulations to you for spending all night doint 53 miles with Rob. That's a true friend...and a skilled trail runner.

You have your internal reward for the effort. I just want to add at least one more external congratulatory message. Awesome job. I'm happy for Rob...and know you were a big part of it.

Eric,

You're the coolest, running 53 miles all for the benefit of your good friend. The world needs a whole bunch more people like you!
