Chuckanut 50K

I successfully entered the Chuckanut 50K this morning thanks to 30 new slots and a first come first serve registration! This will be the largest field I've run in for a 50K with a maximum of 350 runners participating.

Bellingham is the city where I attended college and in the county that I grew up in. I'm looking forward to seeing all my ultra running buddies in Bellingham.

I noticed Tom Riley must have been in a hurry when he signed up for the 50K because he is listed on the registration list as Riley Thomas. I'm sure they can fix that Tom!
Talk about a dedicated WS100 pacer I see that Steve Stoyles managed to sign up during the late registration too! Thanks Steve! Road Trip!!

Ummm. Isn't that one a little flat for you? :-)

Right on! I saw last week that they were going to open up registration. I considered it for a moment but it's not a good time for me for a road trip. Maybe next year. Have fun!

P.S. Your last comment on my blog had me laughing out of my chair! : )

I signed on for the whole experiance.

But what are you doing blogging and signing up for races during work time. You must have an easy job like mine or similar priorities.

I can't wait to hear how it is - maybe next year I can do it too!

eric,
check out the link above. Craig Thornley wrote it. He and Chris grew up in Cool. Was camping near Browns Bar in 1979 when runners went by asking for the next aid station. that was the 2nd year of the official race. their dad was a dr. on the course for 10 years and chris and craig manned an aid station for 10 years. L.B. (craig, a.k.a. lord balls)got nominated by the aid station, that is how he got in. he has all his 100's race reports on his web site also.

How exciting for you! It's great when you are able to get in to a race you really want to do. Looks like a cool shirt.

That 800' climb on mile 23 should be fun! Best of luck training for this. It looks great.

Awesome Eric - I'm glad you got into Chuckanut. You and Steve are a force to be reckoned with - I may have to resort to throwing some elbows your way ;-) See you next weekend!

Shawn,

Hey looky here missy! Throw an elbow at me and get ready for a taste for a douglas fir tree! You ultra girls think you're so tough!

All jesting aside, I'm glad I got in and look forward to seeing you in B'ham! I'm guessing we will all be running fairly close together unless you have your dogs or too many beers the night before:)

That looks brutal! You're a bigger man than I am. ;) Good luck!

PS - the list of adjectives in your comment on my blog. . . .well, I think you're revealing your age. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone you used the word "groovy." :) Although, anyone who sees the elevation profile of your upcoming run, they'll know you're definitely a young buck.

I know these charts are a little deceiving, but that looks like one huge ski run to mile 25. Yikes!

I checked out the course description, and this seems a run through the wilderness. For me. For you it will be like a walk before brunch.

Fragrance Lake - is it as beautiful as it sounds?

Lia - Truth be told the fragrance is probably skunk cabbage but let's think it's the soft hint of wild rose pedals!
