Maniac Reunion Marathon YAKIMA

A light dusting of perpetuem covers one end of our kitchen countertop. Evidence of my hurried preparation for the Yakima River Canyon River Marathon. I boarded a 6:30 AM flight this morning from San Jose after a three day business trip. I'm unpacking and repacking so we can get an early start. The Marathon Maniacs are having the annual reunion Marathon in Yakima. This race also serves as the reunion for the 1oo Marathon Club, and the 50 States Marathon Club. Needless to say it is run with incredible efficiency by many seasoned runners and volunteers. The RD's for the race are Bob and Lenora Dolphin. If you want some inspiration
read this.

This race is a point to point course with a shuttle bus that takes you to the starting line. The course itself is a valley highway running along the Yakima River that is closed to all but traffic. The hill toward the end can be challenging but overall the course if down hill. Because the road is built for speeds up to 60MPH it has lots of chamber for water drainage that wears at you after a while. I tend to head to the shoulder and run the gravel.
I'll give a full report when we return.
Have a great weekend!

Get that counter wiped up! I can't leave a dirty house...okay, now you know I'm joking for sure. If I couldn't leave a dirty house, we'd never leave!

We've got 20 minutes....

Have fun!!! Eager to read your race report! My grandparent-in-laws actually live about 0.5 miles away from the start, SERIOUSLY!!! Hopefully I'll be able to do this one next year.

The downhill part looks good. But this race, with all the long-timers, would intimidate me to no end.
