Mt. Si Ultra Pictoral

I had a great deal of fun helping support Michelle, and many other running friends at the Mt. Si Ultra. I took the opportunity to load up my pack and do some out and backs while supporting a group of four runners from the Y-Run Club. It was fun to be running the opposite direction of the runners and being able to give encouragement to the many runners I knew who were participating in the 50 Mile and 50 K event. Michelle ran most of the 50K with Michelle S., Mellissa, and Rick. In the final miles Michelle S. and Mellissa set out on their own and Rick and Michelle continued at the "available" pace. For those of you who have run ultras before you know what this means. Special kudos go out to Stacy (50M), Patch, Rick, Michelle S. (50K) for their first ultras at these distances. Need to also mention Jon J. and Doug B. who both seemed to rise from the dead and finish the 50 mile course. Did I mention it was a perfect day for running?

Michelle has a nice race report on her blog so I'll just post some pictures that I took of friends and fellow maniacs.

So nice of you to crew for all those first timers out there, and Michelle too. I would have loved to have helped out too. The flu on Sunday took over my normal church plans and plans to go to the fair. So it looks like I wouldn't have made it anyway. Now I need to get strength back for this weekend. Hope you are tapering a bit too! If I don't see you this week, good luck on Saturday and I'll see you on Saturday night!

Thanks for being there Eric! How many miles were you able to sneak in?

Jon - I managed to get in about 22 miles overall. I had my pack loaded up with about 14 lbs of stuff so it was a good workout. Hope you are moving OK today. Your Ben Gay strip along your ITB must have worked. Better stretch those IT's out real good from on now!

Hmm, 22 miles, is that part of your taper for the upcoming dual weekend? I'll catch up with you at Rogers Thursday. Nice pics, crewman.

Other than the blisters, I'm doing pretty well. My wife was suprised to see me walking around better afterwards compared to previous races where I could barely move my legs. Guess my recovery ability is improving. Now if only I could get faster... :-)

Eric, What we are most thankful for is not just what you did, but who you were.

It would be easy to see the little things you did for us all as "not that much," but the spirit in which you did them was a huge lift and just bowled us all over. Thank you so much from all of us.

I told Michelle S that I was jealous of her for being able to live so close to you two. Now that I'm changing jobs, maybe I'll talk to my wife about moving. :grins:

Eric, the Watershed 12 hour is the week after Tacoma so I'll be there instead. I plan on doing 12 summits May 5th, May 12th, then probably again May 26th (hopefully making this one a 50 miler -> FA loop + 12 summits). *tc

Great pictures, Eric. It's fun to crew for others sometimes and it helps to know what they they're going through. Judging from the comments on Michelle's race report, you were very much appreciated.
