It's CCC!

I'll jump back on the 100 mile horse with CCC 100. While more difficult than WS 100 at least I won't have to deal with the altitude. Looks like I'll need to spend a few hours on the stairmaster at the gym for all the climbing that this event throws at you. At least I'll be able to train on the actual trail the race is run on. Race day is Aug 25. My application hit the mail today.
The Cascade Crest 100 takes place in the scenic central Cascade mountains of Washington State. The course is mostly single track including a long section on the famous Pacific Crest Trail. Elevations range from 2,200 to 5,500 ft and the total elevation gain is over 21,000 ft.
The real trick is to stay alive as long as you live!

Ha! See ya in less than 8 weeks? Oh, and help out with marking the rope section, will ya, I got Rob lost there last year:) And, yeah, add more downhill training too, just in case for the later miles to pump some quad. And try to eat whole foods between fuel drinks too - rumor is it helps digestion, and I am going to try as well.
Fun!

I am excited as well. Let me know what your schedule looks like. FYI, the Seattle Running Co. is doing the White River training runs this Sunday and next Sunday. We really should try to fit Mt. Peak in 4-6 times before CCC. We can pound out those quads to help aid along with the stairmaster. Just a few thoughts.

It's on the same weekend as the Ultra Trail Tour du Mont Blanc (which I did last year) and my husband is doing this year. Best of luck with that Eric!

No rest for you, huh? Good luck, I hope you get in. Sounds like an intense course!

Hope to run into you at R2P. It looks like we have the same start time! I'm nervous about the mileage that weekend, but this will be nothing for you! :)

Yeah Eric! I think that is FANTASTIC! I was going to help at an aid station I think for CCC. I hope it is still on! Happy hill running, up and down!

So you do not need to deal with the elevation, just with the elevation gain. Hmmmm. I'm not sure which I would go for. But then, I am used to the altitude, it is the every day thing.

Looks like there's some sort of bug going around...I caught it too. ;)

I think we're going to see a leaner, MEANer Eric at CCC! You'll kill the beast this time.

Well heck, why not. You've got all that training in you. Do they have a cool belt buckle too?
